Sustainability at The Sebel Byron Bay
At The Sebel Byron Bay, sustainability is at the heart of how we operate. We’re dedicated to making environmentally responsible choices across the property, and we know meaningful change comes through continuous improvement. Protecting the natural beauty of Byron Bay matters to us, and we’ve introduced a range of initiatives to help reduce our environmental footprint. Here’s what we’re doing so far.
Amenities & Waste
As part of our ongoing efforts to eliminate single-use plastics, we’ve replaced individual guest amenities with large-format, refillable dispensers throughout the hotel. Refillable water jugs are also provided in our apartments and at reception in place of single-use plastic bottles.
This same commitment carries through to how we manage waste across the hotel. Waste generated on site is separated into co-mingled recycling and general waste streams, helping us maximise recycling and resource recovery. We’re continuing to look at ways to support circular economy principles and encourage reuse and recycling wherever possible.
Sustainable Housekeeping
We invite our guests to join us in our sustainability efforts through our linen and towel reuse program. Bed linen and towels are only changed on request in our King rooms. Apartments staying for 5 nights or more are serviced mid-stay, helping to reduce water and energy use as well as our use of laundry and cleaning products. Small choices like these make a real difference to a more sustainable stay.
Energy & Water
Across the hotel we’re steadily upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting and have installed water-saving dual-flush toilets and shower heads to help reduce our water use.
Guest & Team Engagement
Sustainability is a shared responsibility at The Sebel Byron Bay. Our team takes part in ongoing sustainability training to make sure responsible practices are part of how we operate day to day. We also encourage our guests to get involved through campaigns like Earth Hour and other initiatives that support sustainable choices during their stay.

We’re proud to support the local community that makes Byron Bay so special. We look for opportunities to give back, support local business and suppliers, and take part in programs that create a positive impact, including:
